Marketing is never about manipulation. Marketing is purely minding me, my own self and my own business. We all need to be recognized, appreciated, paid attention to and heard atleast once in a while. Here even in FB, why we want to keep on proving our existence, it is to tell the world and reassure ourselves that I exist and I need attention of you fellow human being. Again being a marketer I call it social media marketing. Even a child crying, wanting to grab the attention of all around him/her is subconscious marketing each one is  built in with. So far, I wanted to avoid it, saying various others reasons of ethics and blah blah. But the ground reality is we are keep on marketing ourselves every now and then in the world, in the work, in the college, in every other place . Ya, accept it even in relationships, not wanting to be taken for granted and be noticed always.
Eventually, obviously, actually and quirkily marketing is minding.
